in my experience things like advantage revolution etc are the only things that completely work i know its expensive but so worth it. could you ask the local shelter if they could help you out by providing some at wholesale price as they cant take the little babys in?
References :
No that won't change your flea problem. It only takes one flea to cause a infestion. If you are honest about and tell the new owners about the problem when you give the kittens away that should ease your conscience. Frountline and Advantage does get exspensive but as long as I've had cats (all indoors) I've always had to combat the fleas no matter what produst I used until advantage and frontline came along. Also washing you dog and cats all the time is unhealthy for them as it gets rid of the natural oils that build up on thier skin which is kind of a protentent aganest rain/bad weather/cold ect. Also washing them all the time drys out thier skin and causes dry flakey skin. When you do find homes for the kittens maybe than you'll be able to treat the rest of your pets with Avantage or Frountline. Also talk with your vet. My vet told me not to spend uncessary money on flea control products if you use Avantage/Frountline regulery the fleas won't have a host to live on. I was also told if the fleas were real bad all i had to do is wash thier bedding and vacume carpets and fruniture after first applieing the Advantage/Frountline. My cats and home have been flea free for over ten years. I stopped noticeing fleas in my home within two weeks of applying frountline.
References :
UC Davis vet school in north Cal. Personal exsperence.
Just baths and cleanup effective flea control?
Long story short, I've got one half-wild kitty, four babies, and my dog. The kitty is kind've ours - sort've a stray we adopted and care for, but is still mostly independant. She had her kittens in our closet and we've been caring for them since. Apparently in the course of her foraging (she's a formidable huntress!) she has picked up fleas, and passed them on to her kittens and my dog.

I didn't notice the little buggers for a while... Apparently I'm not particularly allergic to flea spit so they don't itch. They seem to've gotten a pretty good foothold around the place.

The little guys are about 8 weeks old. They're friendly and sweet - completely trusting of humans. They were born inside and haven't been out yet so they're not wild like their mother. I think they'd make great pets. Unfortunately the humane society here is not accepting cats - they're full up, they said. So it's up to me to find them good homes, but I can't give them away in good conscience while they've still got fleas.

Most pet store products can't be used on young kittens and the cost of treating the whole lot of them with Frontline or Advantage is out of my reach financially.

I've read everything I could find about fleas and I feel like I could qualify as an entomologist on the subject right about now!

I'm not afraid of hard work. I understand that successfully treating an infestation requires just as much, if not more, cleaning of the environment as of the animal. I went out and bought some food-grade DE and I'm treating the carpets. I've bathed all the animals in dish soap a couple of times and combed them over and over. I've vacuumed and laundered and scrubbed the DE into my carpets.

It can feel pretty hopeless and I guess I'm just as much venting as I am asking a question here. :) Please bear with me!

I'm slowly finding less fleas on all the animals. But it still doesn't take much effort to turn them up. A few quick passes of the comb and I usually find at least one, and we're into week two of dealing with fleas without chemical products. Well, not completely. I cheated and used an IGR and adulticide on my dog since he's a bigger, older guy and having FAD, he needed some quick relief. No ill effects on him or anyone else so far, thank goodness.

So my question (finally!) is, do you think it's possible to treat an infestation through 2-3 times weekly bathing and treating of the environment alone? Is there any chance that I could eliminate - and I mean completely get rid of here, not just reduce - these little pests if I stick to a strict regimen of cleaning and treating the environment to get rid of the eggs, and bathing the animals to destroy the adults? How long do you think it'll take?

Or order offline. I also have some coupons for you to use in your purchase :). The links are at the bottom. Target has Zebra pillows which i love, so you could check those out.

Some furniture stores will sell accessories, so I would browse through some of the modern furniture stores in your area. This might also give you great ideas on other ways to accessorize.
You could also try Crate and Barrel.
References :
http://www.crateandbarrel.com/all-pillows/decorating-and-accessories/1

where can I get modern style throw pillows?
Does anyone know what store you can buy contemporary/modern style throw pillows? I'm looking for physical stores not on the internet. I live in San Diego, CA. Bed Bath and Beyond has quite a few but they're all very plain and boring. Pier1 has tons of pillows but they're very "floral" style which I don't like. Costplus also has a bunch but they're very "indian" with tons of intricate designs. Walmart pillows are cheap and look cheap and target only has a few but I can't find anything there. Anyone have any other stores in mind in the San Diego area? Maybe I'm just being picky? I can't seem to find clean, modern, contemporary designs anywhere. Thanks

I’m looking for physical stores not on the internet. I live in San Diego, CA. Bed Bath and Beyond has quite a few but they’re all very plain and boring. Pier1 has tons of pillows but they’re very "floral" style which I don’t like. Costplus also has a bunch but they’re very "indian" with tons of intricate designs. Walmart pillows are cheap and look cheap and target only has a few but I can’t find anything there. Anyone have any other stores in mind in the San Diego area? Maybe I’m just being picky? I can’t seem to find clean, modern, contemporary designs anywhere. Thanks
