The Pink Bedspread - More than Just a Little Girl's Dream
The pink bedspread has become a staple for every little girl's bedroom, especially for parents who want to
create the standard fairy tale bedroom for their newborn baby girl. Yet, there are many other uses for a pink
bedspread today. Plus, not all little girls are dreaming of pink anymore. Many are going with some unusual color
options, such as using a green bedspread instead of the pink.
The Virtues of Pink
There is something special about soft pastel pink. This color brings to mind little candy hearts for Valentines,
hairbows and clothing for little girls, and even the color of flesh of many small babies. The association between
girlhood and pink is the reason most little girls have traditionally had at least one pink bedspread in their room
from birth on.
Yet, not all little girls in our modern world enjoy a pink bedspread. Pink is now being shaken up and shades
other than pale pink are being used. For instance, many crib bedding lines are using bright hot pinks mixed into a
green bedspread. The color combinations are bold and attention-grabbing, rather than the passivity that comes with
a soft pink bedspread.
Other Uses for Pink
Today, the pink bedspread is still being produced by nearly every bedding manufacturer, but it's not the same as
it used to be. When you find a plain pink bedspread on the market today, it is likely to be made from silky, shiny,
or luxurious fabrics. It may even be made from super soft fleece, which can often be used as a throw blanket rather
than as a typical bedspread.
The most luxurious fabrics appeal to an older crowd who still want the comfort of a soft pastel pink bedspread,
but without the cotton material that brings back childhood. It turns out many grown women still think of pink as
virtuous, comforting, and appealing.
Yet in most situations, pink is now used as an accent color rather than the main color for bedding. This goes
for a child's bedroom as well as an adult's bedrooom. Even the best manufacturers are now coming out with
pink-inspired bedding that takes the color to new limits.
Look for a pink bedspread with bright green and black accents or hot pinks that grab attention. You can also
find a predominantly green bedspread with pink accents throughout. Many bedding sets in this color also come with
complimentary window panels and other accessories which play up the pink a bit more throughout the room.
Today, the pink bedspread is more than just a little girl's dream! Pink bedding is here to stay, but it won't
always look so perfectly sweet and innocent. Bedding manufacturers are playing up the virtues of pink and making
the color more appealing to a wider age group. Rather than just putting out pastel pink bedding for infants and
little girls, they are now putting out hot pink bedding with complimentary colors that grab attention for women and
girls of all ages!
Instead of purchasing a pink bedspread for your little girl, consider a green bedspread or some other flattering
color combination instead. This will give your little one's room something unique and a bit different from what has
been traditionally expected from a little girl's room.
